In an interview this past week, Mike Turner (R-OH), Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said that President Biden should be charged with crimes for keeping secret government documents for too long, calling him a “serial hoarder.”
In response to a question regarding his previous remarks that former President Trump and Biden should receive the same legal penalties for maintaining sensitive data, Turner made the comments this week during an interview with Margaret Brennan on CBS.
“Well, when you actually look at these documents, both the level of secrecy and the content, both sides’ documents—Trump and Biden’s—would have been dangerous to U.S. national security if they were made public or slipped into the hands of bad people,” he claimed. “When I examine the documents in question, I see documents on both sides that are just as bad as the others and would hurt our approaches, methods, techniques, as well as our allies. Now, I believe that President Biden needs the same actions that are being taken against President Trump. What they did is the same.”
Brennan asked Turner if what he said meant that he thought Biden should also be charged.
He said, “You’re still seeing the unfairness that comes from the Justice Department. As there is silence regarding the other side about Biden’s—and by the way, he habitually kept secret documents for himself. There were papers from every time he was in government that I looked over. President Biden has really broken the law here.”
In response to a question about whether he had seen firsthand proof of a crime from the documents taken from Biden, Turner said, “Yes.”
He said, “I have seen proof that some of the most sensitive classified documents have been handled incorrectly by President Biden.”
