A new survey shows most Americans disapprove of Biden’s management of the flood of illegals crossing the border.
Fifty-seven percent of people disapprove of President Biden’s way of handling the border crisis, according a new ABC News/Ipos poll. Divided by party affiliation, 89% of Republicans disapprove of Biden’s approach, compared to 33% of Democrats who disapprove and 54% of independents who disapprove .
While the White House has tried to downplay the problem at the border by labeling it a “challenge” instead of “crisis,” the poll shows that people disagree with that assessment. Most Americans (54%) say they see what is happening as a crisis, while 42% say it is a “big problem,” compared to just 4% who stated it is not a serious issue.
President Biden also had low marks on gun rights and violence, with 86% of GOP members, 56% of independents, and 37% of Democrats saying they disapprove of his management of the problem.
People were divided on whether President Biden was carrying out his promise to unite the nation, with 30% saying he has made us more divided and 30% claiming we are more united. Another 40% see him neutrally on the issue of national unity.
President Biden got strong support for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, with 72% of people approving of his performance compared to 28% that showed disapproval.
But Republicans were not as supportive with President Biden’s pandemic actions, with just 44% showing approval of his performance.
The survey took place between March 26-27
