New discussions between Iran and the Biden White House could lead to the lifting of sanctions. This week, State Department Official Ned Price mentioned that the U.S. was open to negotiations with Iran.
The two nations have been talking indirectly about future connections and talks.
President Trump removed the U.S. from Obama’s Iran Nuclear Deal in 2018. He said the nation refused to take the deal seriously. However, Price has said that Biden was willing to bet on Iran’s commitment in exchange for sanction relief.
“We are taking steps needed to return to compliance with the JCPOA, including removing sanctions that are not consistent with the JCPOA,” Price said.
Price did not give much detail about how Biden would get Iran to agree to any new restrictions or requirements. Indirect discussions with Iran were anticipated to continue.
