The International Energy Agency (IEA) has put out a warning that Biden’s policies are helping Chinese control over the supply of critical minerals.
In their new report, the IEA said the U.S. does not have a stable supply of rare earth minerals. The agency stressed that China has control over 60 to 90 percent of the global supply of these elements, which are mostly used in clean energy manufacturing and advanced electronics.
In 2019, President Donald Trump took measures to boost America’s supply, but the IEA said these efforts were not enough and that we must diversify our sources for rare earth elements.
“For cobalt, lithium and rare earth elements, the world’s top three nations control over three quarters of global production,” explained Tim Gould, an IEA official. “And in certain cases ,a single nation is responsible for nearly half of global production.”
However, Democrats think that mining for rare earth elements helps climate change and must be prevented, which ultimately helps China.
