According to Fox News Digital, a county official in Texas announced over the past week that she is defecting from the Democratic Party and joining the Republican Party.
Kira Talip Sanchez, the Kleberg County Attorney, attributed her decision primarily to the Democrat Party’s inept handling of the “unprecedented” border situation.
Sanchez recently issued the following statement: “As County Attorney, I feel extremely proud of my work alongside law enforcement to guarantee the safety of the citizens residing in Kleberg County.”
“The situation at our southern border is worse than ever. I think the GOP’s policies of maintaining law and order, keeping people safe, and supporting the blue are most in line with my values and the values of the people of Kleberg County.” Sanchez also said, “I’m excited to work with my coworkers to keep South Texas protected.”
In a speech at the Hispanic Republicans of the Texas PAC’s luncheon that kicked off the 2024 presidential election season, the county attorney made the news known.
Sanchez was elected to her position in 2014. She is in charge of the county’s Specialized Crimes and Narcotics Task Force, which “serves a vital role in stopping the spread of dangerous drugs that come through the Southern Border,” the HRT said.
Kleberg County has always been a left-leaning place, but both George W. Bush and Donald Trump were elected presidents. The situation at the border has a direct effect on the county, which is in the southern part of the state.
The HRT took notice of the large number of voters and politicians in south Texas who were moving to the GOP.
“The Democratic Party no longer represents their interests,” according to HRT President Cassy Garcia. “Supporters and even Democratic candidates are transferring to the Republican Party. The most effective way to keep bringing people over to the Republican Party is to keep following policies that help the economy, keeping our country safe, and stand for freedom. I want to express my gratitude to Attorney Talip Sanchez for coming tonight and for all the work she’s done for Kleberg County. I’m excited to keep reaching out to people all over Texas to get them to join the Republican Party.”
In Garcia’s opinion, the Democratic Party has grown “too radical, elitist, and totally out of touch with American values.”
“Every day, we talk to people who have been Democrats for decades but say that this isn’t the same party as their grandparents,” Garcia said.
