An official from the Department of Justice has just confirmed an active FBI criminal investigation that could be disastrous for the Biden family.
James Rosen, a reporter with the Sinclair Broadcast Group, tweeted on Thursday, confirming that late in 2019, the FBI opened a criminal investigation in “Hunter Biden and associates” over allegations of money laundering.
“EXCLUSIVE: A @TheJusticeDept official confirms that in 2019, the @FBI opened up a criminal investigation into ‘Hunter Biden and his associates,’ focused on allegations of money-laundering, and that it remains open and active today,” he said.
The confirmation of this active investigation could have widespread implications on Joe Biden’s chances of winning the election.
In recent weeks, details of Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings have forced their way into the public eye, leading to concerns about potential corruption and national security concerns not only for him – but for his father as well.
Materials linking Joe Biden to Hunter Biden’s shady businesses have been discovered on Hunter’s now infamous laptop.
The former vice president has denied having any involvement in foreign business ventures with his family and claimed he had no awareness of his son’s pursuits, a claim which has been rendered an outright lie by the new discoveries and outspoken former Hunter Biden business partners like Tony Bobulinski.
Bobulinski stated that Joe was involved in all of Hunter’s major business dealings, even providing documents and audio to back his claims.
On Tuesday, Bobulinski, gave an interview on Fox News where he detailed his alleged meetings with the former vice president — one he says took place on May 2, 2017, according to text messages first reported last week.
Those messages indicated that the meeting did, in fact, take place. Bobulinski claimed Tuesday that it was Hunter Biden and Jim Biden, the brother of the former vice president, who had pushed for the meeting.
“They were sort of wining and dining me and presenting the strength of the Biden family to get me engaged,” he said.
The Biden campaign declined to comment on the meeting Joe Biden allegedly had with Bobulinski. Biden himself has not yet directly addressed Bobulinski’s claims on Fox News.
Bobulinksi was interviewed by FBI agents last week, and told Rosen he was listed as a “material witness” in the bureau’s investigation and that his cellphones were inspected. He was also told by the FBI he would be brought back for additional questioning.
John Solomon, an investigative journalist who founded Just the News, said on Fox Business on Thursday that “there is activity, I’m aware of some activity of the FBI contacting witnesses, talking to people” related to the Hunter Biden materials.
Even with this federal investigation knocking on his doorstep, Joe Biden couldn’t help but to brag about how his son Hunter on Thursday, describing his as “the smartest guy [he] know[s]”
Biden made the remarks during an online event hosted by Oprah Winfrey, in which he retold how he went home and gathered with his family when then-nominee Barack Obama asked him to be his running mate in 2008.
“So I got off the train, went home, true story. And we sat down the back and I had my deceased son Beau, who was then the Attorney General of the state of Delaware. And I had my son. Hunter, is the smartest guy I know,” he said. “My daughter who is a social worker. And my and the whole family was there. And we sat in the back porch …”
