Jimmy Kimmel went full drama mode during his monologue Wednesday night following Donald Trump’s triumphant re-election. The late-night host put on quite the performance, starting with a skit where he “prepared” to flee the country, joking to his sidekick, Guillermo Rodriguez, “You heard him—he has a list of enemies, you think I’m not on that list?”
But then, right on cue, Kimmel shifted gears to get teary-eyed over what he called a “terrible night” for democracy. While Democrats across Hollywood gasped into their kombucha over another four years of Trump, Kimmel kept the script predictable, listing out everything and everyone supposedly doomed by this election. “It was a terrible night for women, for children, for hundreds of thousands of immigrants who make this country go,” he said, tearfully adding, “For health care, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justice, for free speech.” The kicker? Kimmel declared it was “a terrible night for everyone who voted against him” and, wait for it, “even a bad night for everyone who voted for him, too.”
The irony is priceless. Kimmel, who regularly pushes leftist talking points, tried to lecture Trump’s voters on what’s best for them. Yes, apparently half the country just doesn’t get what’s good for them, but Jimmy Kimmel does. He went on, adding melodrama for effect, saying, “It was a terrible night for poor people, the middle class, for seniors who rely on social security.” And don’t forget the obligatory shoutout to Ukraine and NATO, because why not?
Kimmel couldn’t resist taking a jab at Trump supporters, essentially warning them they’ll be sorry one day, claiming, “They just don’t realize it yet.” But then, the self-appointed voice of reason urged restraint, saying, “This doesn’t mean we storm the Capitol because we don’t like the result,” a line designed to link Trump supporters with unrest. He tried to end on a “positive” note, saying, “Maybe we’ll look back and realize this was what we needed to wake us up.” Apparently, Kimmel believes America “needs to wake up”—a line straight from the left’s playbook when they want the country to “learn its lesson” for not picking the “right” candidate.
Ultimately, Kimmel consoled himself by thinking, “Maybe the good part in all of this is he can’t run again in 2028.” It’s a nice thought for the left, but the reality is that Trump’s win signals that Americans are fed up with the condescension, the lectures, and the scare tactics from the mainstream media and Hollywood elites. This election wasn’t just a victory for Trump; it was a victory for every American tired of being talked down to by celebrities who only care about “the people” when it’s time to score political points.
