A right-wing protester was murdered during a “Patriot Rally” which took place in downtown Denver, Colorado.
The left-wing shooter, who apparently worked as a “security guard” for a local news outlet, is being held on murder charges.
9News Denver reports, that the shooting took place as the pre-planned “Patriot Rally” was challenged by an “Antifa / BLM soup can drive” counter protest which resulted in an escalation near the Denver Civic Center where Matthew Dolloff would eventually shoot the right-wing protester.
According to witnesses, Antifa/BLM protesters were engaging in a war of words with Patriot Rally attendees when a Patriot Rally marcher, apparently concerned for his own safety, deployed a can of “bear spray” against another individual, who was supposedly providing private security for the 9News crew on the ground covering the events. The security guard fired at the Patriot Rally protester in response, killing him.
“A private security guard is being held as a suspect in a deadly shooting near the Denver Art Museum, according to the Denver Police Department (DPD),” 9News, the organization that hired the private security firm, wrote Sunday. “The private security guard in custody was contracted through Pinkerton by 9NEWS. It has been the practice of 9NEWS for a number of months to contract private security to accompany staff at protests.”
The outlet notes that “DPD originally took two people into custody and later found the second individual, a 9NEWS producer who works in the investigative unit, was not involved in the incident. The producer is no longer in police custody and is not a suspect.”
Although the media outlet claimed that Dolloff was working as security, it was discovered that the shooter had no license necessary to work as a security guard.
The shooter was originally identified as being an Antifa/BLM protester, and although police later suggested that no ties were found indicating such was true, Dolloff has a history of spewing anti-Trump rhetoric commonly used among these groups.
Facebook posts were also uncovered where Dolloff posted in the past bragging about confronting Trump supporters to wearing pro-Trump apparel.
The man shot dead was a military veteran, grandfather and avowed patriot who was there to express his support for police and died as his son looked on in horror, according to his mom.
Lee Keltner was identified by his mother, Carol, in a Facebook post to the group Northeast Arkansas Tea Party Group. The heartbroken mom said her grandson was with his father when he was killed by Dolloff.
“My son Lee was at the patriot rally today in Denver,” she wrote to the group. “After the rally a person on the BLM and Antifa side went up to him said a few nasty words then shot him in the head. He was murdered because he backed the police.”
“His 24-year-old son was with him. I moved to Arkansas because Colorado got too expensive and liberal,” she added. “The left has gotten out of hand.”
Denver Police were able to piece together the shooting using security footage. The victim was shot in the head and was transported to a hospital where he later died.
The Patriot Rally was scheduled to take place first; the BLM/Antifa “soup drive,” heavily advertised on social media, was designed to “drown out” the earlier event.
This is marks a continuation in a concerning trend of violence as leftists – backed by the media and their Democrat leaders – feel increasingly emboldened in their attacks on Trump supporters.
Just last month, a similar instance occurred as a self-described Antifa member stalked and murdered a Trump supporter during a right-wing protest in Portland.
