Pelosi Delivers The Finishing Blow Against Her Own Credibility

President Biden has gotten bipartisan pushback for his handling of the withdrawal of United States forces from Afghanistan.

However, Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) is hailing the choice to withdraw as a “strong” one.

During her appearance on San Francisco’s KPIX, Pelosi was questioned, “Should the Biden White House have had a stronger United States military presence for the change of power?”

“Well, first I just need to say that I commend Biden for the action he took,” the House speaker started. “It was strong, decisive, and was the right thing to do. We should have been out of Afghanistan some time ago.”

She continued, “Unfortunately one of the potential outcomes was this disarray. But that has to be corrected. From what I understand of the assurances we got that the military will be there to negotiate with the Taliban for the safe removal of American citizens and allies, people who have aided us.”

Watch the video below:

Pelosi’s remarks come after the Taliban have seized total control of Afghanistan after the drawing down of the United States military presence there.

The collapse of the Afghanistan government prompted thousands of Afghan citizens to rush toward the Hamid Karzai International Airport in order to flee the nation. Videos showed up online revealing some of them clinging to the sides of United States jets.

Additionally, it was reported that there were an around 10,000 to 15,000 Americans still in Afghanistan looking to get out.

A CBS News reporter revealed a memo on Twitter that was sent to Americans inside the country who were wanting to leave. It read, “Thank you for submitting your request for evacuation from Afghanistan. The United States embassy in Afghanistan has confirmed that a certain number of government flights will start soon. Please go to Hamid Karzai International Airport at this time.”

“PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE UNITED STATES IS NOT ABLE TO GUARANTEE YOUR SAFETY AS YOU MAKE THIS TRIP,” the memo said.

Pelosi’s comments come at a time when Biden is losing allies at a fast pace. With many Democrats joining Republicans in demanding to get more answers about why the pull-out was managed so poorly.
