Democratic House Speaker Pelosi (Calif) has hinted that she will not support Rep. Jerry Nadler’s (D-N.Y.) plan to enlarge the Supreme Court. This week, Pelosi was asked by reporters about Nadler’s proposal to add four more justices to the the High Court.
Pelosi responded with a blunt and consise: “No.” However, Pelosi also said she would support Biden’s new Supreme Court commission, which will investigate the issue of expanding the court.
Other Democratic leaders, including Senate Judiciary Chairman Dick Durbin (Ill.), have denied the proposal outright.
Furthermore, in 2005, when he was in the Senate, Joe Biden slammed the idea. He said packing the Supreme Court was a “power grab.”
