Former Secretary of State John Kerry reportedly told Iran that Israel was behind 200 covert strikes against Iranian interests, Iranian official Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a leaked recording received by the NY Times.
According to the Times, Zarif said he was not informed about security issues “sometimes to his embarrassment., and that to his amazement, Kerry, who kept meeting with Zarif even after leaving office, informed him that Israel had attacked Iranian facilities in Syria 200 times.

The recording, said to be “a conversation between Zarif and an official named Saeed Leylaz., was given to Saudi-owned news channel Iran International, a news outlet which is against Iran’s regime.
The recording also shows that Zarif, and others within the Iran government, might have been glad that the U.S. killed General Qasem Soleimani, leader of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Zarif says “the US delivered a big blow to Iran, more damaging than destroying a whole city., the Times reported. “But some of Suleimani’s actions also harmed Iran.”
Zarif admitted that government issues were often controlled by the IRGC, and that Russia had allied with Soleimani to interrupt the nuclear deal in 2015.
“In Iran, the military field rules, he said.
