President-elect Donald Trump didn’t mince words in his takedown of Jack Smith, the now-former special counsel who resigned from the Justice Department after spending two years and more than $50 million investigating Trump. Smith, who spearheaded high-profile investigations into Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents and actions surrounding January 6, left his post with nothing to show for it except a legacy of failure.
In classic Trump fashion, he took to Truth Social to unload on Smith. “Deranged Jack Smith was fired today by the DOJ. He is a disgrace to himself, his family, and his Country,” Trump wrote. “After spending over $100,000,000 on the Witch Hunt against TRUMP, he left town empty-handed!” Trump wasn’t done. Hours later, he followed up with a brutal parting shot: “The Stench of Deranged Jack Smith and his thugs is GONE. They were sent packing after spending over $100,000,000, destroying the lives of many people and families, who will never be the same again. Deranged Jack accomplished nothing, except to show what complete losers my political opponents are!!!”
Smith, who had become a favorite punching bag at Trump rallies, oversaw two major investigations that were conveniently terminated following Trump’s resounding November 5th victory. Both cases—the mishandling of classified documents and January 6—failed to stick, highlighting what many on the right have said all along: these weren’t investigations but politically motivated witch hunts designed to derail Trump’s comeback.
The left’s favorite legal crusader resigned with his tail between his legs, and even Attorney General Merrick Garland seems eager to quietly move on. Garland is reportedly looking to release Smith’s January 6 report before Trump takes office, but curiously, he’s holding back on the investigation into classified documents. It’s almost as if even Garland knows these cases were flimsy.
Smith’s tenure is a perfect example of what happens when Democrats weaponize government institutions for partisan gain. They spend taxpayer dollars chasing ghosts and inventing scandals while ignoring the issues that actually matter. Meanwhile, Trump’s victory proves that the American people see through these antics.
This is why Trump resonates with so many voters—he doesn’t back down. While Democrats waste time and money on witch hunts, Trump remains focused on making America great again. Jack Smith’s resignation isn’t just a win for Trump; it’s a win for justice, common sense, and every American tired of seeing their government turned into a tool for political retribution.
