President Donald Trump is taking decisive action to dismantle the divisive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives that have infiltrated the federal government for decades. In a sweeping set of orders, Trump has directed all federal agencies to eliminate DEI offices, positions, programs, and policies, marking the beginning of a bold campaign against race-based discrimination in government and beyond.
Federal Agencies Forced to Clean House
The president’s orders call for the immediate removal of DEI programs and requirements across all federal agencies and departments, rescinding executive orders from prior Democratic administrations that pushed identity politics, including Lyndon B. Johnson’s 1965 affirmative action Executive Order 11246. Trump’s incoming attorney general has also been tasked with spearheading a civil rights campaign targeting DEI in the private sector.
One of the first agencies to comply is the Department of Education (DOE), now led by former WWE CEO and America First Policy Institute Chair Linda McMahon. In a Jan. 23 statement, the department declared its commitment to eliminating DEI initiatives and prioritizing meaningful education over divisive ideology.
The DOE has already taken significant action, dissolving its Diversity and Inclusion Council and closing its Employee Engagement Diversity Equity Inclusion Accessibility Council. Additionally, the department has withdrawn its Equity Action Plan, canceled $2.6 million in race-centric training contracts, and identified over 200 webpages promoting DEI ideology for removal.
Reclaiming American Values in Education
Trump’s vision for reforming education is clear: end illegal discrimination and focus on real learning. By cutting away DEI-driven programs, the DOE aims to reorient itself toward meaningful educational goals rather than wasteful, ideological distractions.
The department emphasized that this is just the beginning, noting that a comprehensive review is underway to root out any remaining programs that may be pushing a divisive DEI agenda under vague or disguised language.
Conservatives Applaud the Move
The reaction to Trump’s bold actions has been overwhelmingly positive among conservatives. Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) summed it up with the phrase, “Not tired of winning.” Former All-American swimmer Riley Gaines added, “DEI was a house of cards since its inception, and it’s finally crumbling. Such a glorious sight to behold.”
As the Trump administration continues to fulfill its promise to eliminate race-based policies and put America First, it’s clear that the DEI era in federal government is on its last legs.
