The battle over our Southern border continues to rage. As the Democrats refuse to do anything, countless migrants try to charge into our country. President Trump has vowed to secure our border with a border wall. After numerous attempts, he’s continuing onward with a massive request. It will spark yet another showdown in Congress.
President Trump has sought every available avenue to secure our Southern border. The left has fought back with misinformation, distraction, and outright lies. Liberals accuse Trump of racism for trying to fight illegal immigration. Nancy Pelosi—in typical incoherent fashion—called the wall “an immorality.”
Yet she doesn’t mind the countless women raped while trying to cross our border. Or the many drug cartels who profit by slipping back and forth untouched. Or the children used as props by human smugglers.
No, a wall is an immorality. M-kay Pelosi. Maybe you need to up your dosage of old person pills.
President Trump, despite all the obstruction, has made progress on the wall. Major portions are being built. Other sections with existing barriers are being reinforced and secured. Thousands of migrants who try to enter illegally are being apprehended.
But much more needs to be done. Time and again Trump has sought to secure funding for build the wall. Democrats have refused, even going as far as shutting down the government. Apparently, Democrats would rather have the government grind to a halt, putting thousands out of work, than spend a little to secure our border.
Trump isn’t about to let the left win. He made a promise to the American people and he’s going to make it happen. Once again, he’s put in a request for funding for the border wall. It will no doubt spark yet another battle in Congress.
President Trump will soon formally seek a total of $8.6 billion in new border wall funding from Congress as part of the White House’s upcoming budget proposal for the next fiscal year, three sources close to the budget process tell Fox News, although the aggressive request faces all-but-certain rejection in Congress amid a growing crisis at the southern border…
According to the sources, Trump will look to secure $5 billion from Congress, plus $3.6 billion from the military construction budget, for the fiscal year 2020. The request is coming on top of the $8.1 billion Trump already has access to, which includes money he’s trying to shift from military accounts after declaring a national emergency. [Source: Fox News]
According to some estimates, Trump already has money to build more than half of the wall. The additional $8 billion from Congress would secure the rest of it.
But, with the House in the hands of radical leftists, will this request even be considered? The administration can put pressure on the Democrats—along with help from Republicans. But it’s still a longshot.
You might be wonders, then, why does he request money if he’s going to get shot down?
Because Trump wants the American people to know exactly who’s to blame for the wall being delayed. He has the funds to build half of it. Half of the wall is better than no wall. But he promised a totally secure border. That means all of the wall, or steel barrier, needs to be in place.
By requesting the rest of the funds from Congress, he is giving them an opportunity to actually work with his administration, getting on board with his plans. If Congress (i.e.: Democrats) refuse, they will be declaring to America, “We don’t want a secure border.”
That’s not going to go over so well, come 2020. For four years, Trump has promised Americans a border wall. It was the biggest issue during his 2016 campaign. Perhaps the biggest factor in getting him elected.
Now Americans will see the only thing stopping him from achieving this crucial goal are Democrats. What Democratic candidate will be able to explain that away? How will they appeal to the same voters to elect them, when they refused to even work with Trump on border security?
Right now, the current candidates running are all senators who have spent the last three years opposing Trump. All they’ve done is undermine every measure he’s taken to restore American strength, especially when it comes to the border.
If they shoot down this funding request, they’ve all but doomed their 2020 chances.
If they were smart, they’d word with Trump. But clearly, they are not.
