Former President Trump stated this week that he has “not conceded” the November 2020 election.
“I did not admit defeat., Trump said during his appearance on the Christian tv station, CBN, saying that, “I have conceded nothing.”
In the months after the presidential election, Trump would not admit defeat, saying the presidency had been stolen from him by Biden. The Trump campaign pushed several legal challenges claiming widespread fraud, the majority of these lawsuit were rejected by courts.
But in January, after the Capitol protest which turned violent, Trump said in an online video that a “new president will be inaugurated.”
“My focus now is on ensuring a smooth and orderly transition of power., he added.
When asked in a Monday interview if he would attempt to become the speaker of the House for 2022, Trump did not give a certain answer.
“Well, I have heard the talk, and it is getting more attention, but it’s not something I would have thought about, but there is certainly a lot of talk about it., he said. “I have a great relationship with McCarthy, and hopefully, we will be traditional about everything.”
“You know, we are always known for fair elections., Trump said. “Well, it turns out they were not free, and they were not fair, and the whole world is watching. So I’ve heard talk about this, but it is nothing I’ve considered.”
Reporters reached out to Kevin McCarthy’s office for his comment on Former President Trump’s comments but did not immediately get a response.
Trump has not revealed if he plans to seek another run for president in 2024.
“We will be making a decision about 2024, but if you take into account the numbers, people are liking us more than before, and I believe the reason is they are seeing what is happening to our nation., he said to Sean Hannity recently. “And I believe it’s making me more popular.”
